THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT COLORADO!

ABOUT PROTECT COLORADO’S FUTURE

Protect Colorado's Future is a non-profit organization focused on the issues that matter to families in our state, like creating good paying jobs and increasing access to affordable health care. We are made up of Colorado local businesses, unions, progressive groups, faith-based organizations, community allies and individuals from around Colorado who are working together to stop out-of-state corporate interests from playing political games with our state and put the focus back on the serious issues facing Coloradans.

We are proud to be joined in our effort to defeat Amendment 47, 49 and 54 by members of the business community like the Denver Broncos, GE Johnson Construction, HealthONE, ProLogis, Qwest Communications, Xcel Energy and MDC Holding/Richmond Homes as well as groups like Progress Now, New Era, Catholics United, Mi Familia Vota, 9 to 5 Association of Working Women and the African American Voter Registration Project to name a few.

PROTECT COLORADO'S FUTURE IS OPPOSING THREE INITIATIVES

  • AMENDMENT 54 unfairly silences any person, or family member, of anyone who works on a government contract from contributing to a candidate and/or advocating for an issue at any level - while creating big loopholes for drug, oil and energy companies. It will limit the voices of firefighters, police officers, teachers, nurses, non-profit groups, and disproportionately impact rural communities. VOTE NO

  • AMENDMENT 49 will weaken the voice of small, local businesses and limit the way firefighters, nurses, teachers and police officers can choose to spend their hard-earned paychecks. A similar proposal has been rejected by California, Oregon, and Nevada voters on multiple occasions. VOTE NO

  • AMENDMENT 47 will limit the ability of our firefighters, teachers, nurses and police officers to work as a group to advocate for better working conditions, protective equipment and appropriate staffing levels that keep them - and us - safe. VOTE NO

NEWS RELEASES

Oct. 28, 2008 - CLERGY AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS FROM ACROSS COLORADO ENDORSE FIGHT AGAINST AMENDMENTS 47, 49 AND 54

Clergy and religious leaders from a wide variety of faith traditions announced their support for the fight against Amendments 47, 49 and 54 today, citing a need to be especially careful of amendments that would change Colorado's State Constitution and make it harder for workers and their employers to reach their own agreements about how their workplace is structured during a time of great economic uncertainty.
